Wednesday swag

{+} This woman’s miraculously immense hoo-haw puts Whoopi Goldberg’s to shame. Its contents during a recent raid: 54 bags of heroin, 8 prescription pills and $51.22. Yes, that’s right — spare change.

************

{+} If Newt Gingrich had any chance of winning the Republican ticket in 2012 — which I’m going to optimistically say he didn’t — I think he just dug his political grave with this doozy of a comment:

I have two grandchildren — Maggie is 11, Robert is 9 — I am convinced that if we do not decisively win the struggle over the nature of America, by the time they’re my age they will be in a secular atheist country, potentially one dominated by radical Islamists and with no understanding of what it once meant to be an American.

I think by “what it once meant to be an American” he is trying to say “I wish we could all still own slaves.”

************

{+} My new favorite politician will be whoever targets his or her energy toward closing the asinine corporate tax loopholes.

************

{+} In case you haven’t been following the Guardian’s excellent “Experience” series, this week’s was a winner: “I Eat Roadkill.” Never not interesting.

RE: Newt. On the contrary, I think he just made an excellent pander to Republican primary voters, despite the fact that it doesn’t make a lick of sense. That said, he has zero chance of ever being the nominee, much less President.
