HIMYM premiere – open thread

HIMYM premiere

Since it seems a decent amount of us who traverse this corner of the interebays are fans of “How I Met Your Mother,” I thought I’d throw up a post to ask your thoughts on the year’s first show, “Definitions.” My two pennies: I’ll begrudgingly admit the premiere opened me up a bit more to the idea of Barn-man and Robin, probably since Ted’s hypothetical unease could have faded by now. Most of the rest of the episode was typical premiere-y setup and reminders of the sitchyation at hand, so it wasn’t a series fave or anything, but Ted’s douchey “Good Morning. ‘Sup? SILENCE!” line absolutely made the episode.

Also, I can’t quite put my finger on it, but the show came off more…well, confident than I remember. Like it didn’t necessarily have to go for the biggest gag, or turn the laugh track up to 11 after jokes. Just seemed a bit more assured than in the past.

Was that a figment of my imagination? Will it last? Who the hell knows. I’m just glad it’s back. Mondays are awe-a-whole-darn-lot again.

Agree? Disagree? Holla.

Also, as my wife noted, Alyson Hannigan’s post-pregnancy cleavage is quite…prominent.

    Exploding knucks to post-pregnancy cleavage.

When it became obvious that Chikage Windler had stopped breast-feeding, a little part of me died inside. And by “little part of me”, I mean boner.

Sorry guys, but aside from Marshall’s “Not good enough!” whip bit, the episode was a huge disappointment. Oh, and Lily’s boobs. Those were nice. Plus, didn’t Robin look a little “ridden hard, put away wet”?

Let me get this straight, am I to believe that there are men out there that watch “How I Met Your Mother”?

/Four guys slowly set down their teacups and slink quietly to the garage.

We’re not supposed to? I’m going to finish reading this month’s Redbook and think on this some more.
