Tuesday swag

21 Jul

old people{+} Let us start with a shoutout. Ocassional commenter Randball’s Stu nabbed himself a high-profilish gig writing for Twinkie Town, one of the most popular Twins blogs on the web. He actually uses the “Randball’s Stu” pseudonym on the site, which I think we can all agree is adorable.

Check out his premier effort, entitled “Anthony LaPanta’s Outdoor Follies.” Satisfaction guaranteed. I’m not just saying this because I know him, but there are few writers out there as funny as Stu.

Best of luck, sir. Don’t be a stranger.

{+} It’s been proven time and again, but here is some further proof that our overpopulation isn’t due to increasing childbirths, but rather old people refusing to die.

An aging population will push up pension and healthcare costs, forcing major increases in public spending that could slow economic growth in rich and poor countries.

And this concludes your grandparent-argument bait of the week. Go nuts. Be as disrespectful as you want. After all, this is entirely their fault.

{+} TLC has decided to try to beat NBC’s world record (set with “Quarterlife”) for least-watched show of all time with a reality series about obese people. Do you know a single soul on earth who can handle looking at the obese? Even fat people are saying, “That’s disgusting. No way in hell I’m watching that one.”

The only good news is that this show takes the place of the previously scheduled “Slow Motion Close-Ups of Rectal Exams” show. So that is a nice silver lining.

{+} This article entitled “Single spelling mistake can derail job application” isn’t all that interesting, but it did remind me of my favorite typo ever. One of my former co-workers was writing to a prospective business partner regarding a new product, which was a potential competitor to the iPod, and stated that it “won’t be released to the pubic until late fall.” Ouch.

There aren’t nearly enough media players designed with pubic intentions, IMHO. Every crotch should have a soundtrack.

I appreciate the shout-out, Brandon, and since this is still my primary outlet for music snobbery and mocking Sarah Palin and Michele Bachmann, don’t worry about me disappearing.
