World premiere of the WoB podcast: “The Riff”

11 May

This is a very exciting, mildly nerve-racking and kind of embarrassing moment here on the WoB … I’m introducing our very first podcast, created by me and my cohort Mike. The podcast series is tentatively titled “The Riff.”

We’ve named Episode 1 “The B Movement With B and Thunder.” (Taking inspiration from Mr. Show, the show titles will be created using actual phrases used in the episode.) Tune in by clicking the link below. (I think. Still not sure the ideal way to upload these podcasts. Advice is welcomed.)

What was discussed:

  • I hilariously introduce the podcast by mispronouncing my own name
  • Mike says something about store names that makes no sense
  • Podcast ground rules and show expectations (hint: they are low)
  • Favre talk
  • Mike tries talking about steroids and gets railroaded by B
  • Mike’s invention: “The Tiny Razor”
  • Swine Flu and our made-up definition of “pandemic”
  • Flu-chebags
  • Short reviews (Cowboy Slim’s and Doubt)
  • Mike pleads with listenders to see the Charlie Kaufmann film “Schenectady” New York, which is actually entitled Synecdoche, New York

Overall, I give us a B-, which is sadly a lot better than I thought we’d do. The key improvement we need to make is to tighten up the content a little bit. I thought it’d be fun to go completely extemporaneous, but it’s obvious that is not the ideal plan. We’ll improve our preparation a bit more for the next one. Also, most importantly: we’ll work on correcting the audio. Sorry about that. Please don’t give up on us.

Either way, please weigh in with feedback via email or the comments section. Love letters and hate mail are equally encouraged.

    Q: How are Marshall’s, Macy’s and Dayton’s related?
    A: Not at all.

Couple of Beers + No Agenda = Podcast Gold

Football fans are “not dumber as humans but dumber as fans.” Agreed.

We’ll never agree on Favre but that’s OK.

TFP is looking at podcasting. Thanks for the nudge, pottymouth. I hope I don’t sound like such a Minnesotan. Sheesh.

Thanks, latte. You are hereby invited to join one of our podcasts should you ever find your way back to Minneapolis. A good time is guaranteed.

I would have gone with the episode title, “Mom’s will love it, Ladies dig it.” Ah, on second thought, maybe use that as the tagline for the t-shirts which we’ll all inevitably be forced to wear at this year’s bar crawl.

Nice job guys, and not for nothin’, but I think that Mike’s wife has an excellent rating system.

I think Mike’s wife has an excellent booty.

I meant sense of humor-sorry readers.

That’s gold, Cool Rut. Solid gold.

Stinger: last time I checked, you had given the “Nip/Tuck” DVDs 4.5 stars. I stand by my original statement.

I agree, really nice work guys! Very fun work listening.

One thing you forgot to mention in your review was the craziness with the batroom at Cowboy Slims. 95 drunken twenty-something girls in line & 2 stalls filled with broken glass from the twenty-somethings’ cranberry cocktails, forced a good friend (seriously not not me) to take advantage of the crowded parking lot. In Cowboy’s defense it was opening Saturday. Fingers crossed the douche level declines and the young ladies learn to hold their booze so we can bring Beth.

Looking forward to more. Podcasts that is.

Cocksucker is far inferior to cocksmoker!
