The Tube: 11/10 – 11/16

9 Nov

A look at what’s on tap this week on the ol’ boob tube.

MONDAY

7:00 pm – Campbell Brown: No Bias, No Bull (CNN) – I’m taking a respite from the political world for a while, but if I need a respite from the respite, I’ll look to Campbell Brown’s new show for the 4-1-1. Less bias. Less rants. More tolerable.

7:00 pm – Gossip Girl (CW) – Though I am legally forced to watch this one via my relationship contract, it’s worth it just to see Chuck Bass’s clothing. The guy should not only be in the Worst Dressed Hall of Fame, but they should name the whole damn Hall after him. Endlessly amusing.

7:00 pm – Inside the Actors Studio (Bravo) – Dave Chappelle returns, this time as a guest host, interviewing James Lipton himself. One the one hand, I’m thinking “there are few people on earth I want to hear less of than James Lipton,” but on the other hand: Chappelle. Tough call.

7:30 pm – How I Met Your Mother (CBS)

8:00 pm – The Baxter (IFC) – Written and directed by the great Michael Showalter, but owning just so-so reviews. Again, tough call.

9:30 pm – Sling Blade (IFC)

TUESDAY

(God I hate Tuesdays.)

11:00 pm – Seinfeld (Fox) – “The Contest.”

WEDNESDAY

9:00 pm – Top Chef (Bravo) – Season premiere.

9:00 pm – Strangers on a Train (TCM) – Hitchcock classic.

THURSDAY

7:00 pm – Planes, Trains & Automobiles (WGN)

8:00 pm – The Office (NBC)

8:30 pm – 30 Rock (NBC)

8:30 – Mavs vs. Bulls (TNT) – 18 points/5 assists/4 rebounds per game from young Derrick Rose. Not like any of you care.

10:15 – Big (AMC) – “Sure you can sleep over…but I get to be on top.”

FRIDAY

7:00 pm – The Break Up (TNT) – Fairly enjoyable movie that contains one of the all-time dumbest endings. Hot tip for burgeoning film directors: if you devote 99% of your movie to showing the two main characters treating each other terribly and proving beyond a shadow of a doubt that they don’t belong together, you probably shouldn’t decide to have them get back together at the end because focus groups felt bad for a recently dumped Jennifer Aniston.

SATURDAY

7:00 pm – The Godfather (AMC)

SUNDAY

9:00 pm – Lock, Stock & Two Smoking Barrels (Sundance)

Also, if I wasn’t marrying my fiancee, I’d be marrying Marnie Gellner. But if I wasn’t marrying Marnie Gellner, I’d be marrying Campbell Brown.

She’s officially the Speaker of the House in terms of marriage.

    What? No “Real Housewives”?
